Who is this course for?
This is a general English course for students at the A2 level who want to build their language skills and gain greater confidence in understanding and using everyday language. The course will help you build your knowledge of English and get a better idea of how the language works. There is an equal focus on grammar and vocabulary.
This course will help you to
- Become more confident at using new language to listen and talk in basic terms about the real world.
- Develop basic grammar awareness and accuracy about the past, present and future.
- Learn vocabulary to talk in everyday and familiar contexts and look at some common vocabulary-building techniques.
- Use bottom-up processing skills to develop listening and reading.
How will I learn?
- We offer One-to-One, One-to-Two, Group classes. You will be placed in an online class with people of a similar language level as you.
- Your teacher will use an e-book but adapt it to your learning needs and progress in mind.
- You will have hrs of live online group lessons with your teacher in a virtual classroom.
- You will have 24 hrs of guided self-study work that includes individual and group project work to provide variety. Your teacher will provide you with audio and video support.
- You will have access to RAQ LMS Online, our online learning platform and use a wide range of digital resources for extra practice.
How will I know how well I am doing?
- Your teacher will assist you to create an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and will support you to achieve your learning goals throughout the course.
- You will receive recorded or live feedback on all four skills and provide you with extra support.
- You can arrange 8 one-to-one tutorials with your teacher to receive targeted support that will help you to achieve your learning goals.
Will I need to do extra work at home?
Your teacher will assign homework and additional self-study tasks throughout the course and you can use the one-to-one tutorials to discuss your work or submit your answers through RAQ LMS Online, our online learning platform to get feedback from your teacher.
What will I need to study?
We will provide you with the coursebook, and other self-study materials through RAQ LMS Online platform.

Elementary Level 1 (Units 1-3)

- Topics – Your world, My day, The world of work
- Vocabulary- countries, nationalities and languages, family, regular and irregular plural nouns, daily activities, telling time, verb + preposition, jobs, work, -er suffix.
- Language- present simple to be, possessive determiners, possessive ‘s, present simple positive, adverbs of frequency, present simple negative, yes/no questions, Wh- questions.
- Skills development- Listening to positive and negative contractions, asking for personal information and checking you understand, writing a personal profile, understanding conjunctions in reading, making suggestions and arrangements in speaking, writing a description about where you live, making requests, opening and closing an email.

Elementary Level 2 (Units 4-6)
Duration 4 weeks 24 hr of live online sessions 2hrs Guided self-study 2 one-to-one tutorials
- Topics – Places and things, Clothes and shopping, The past
- Vocabulary – places in a town, rooms, furniture, and prepositions of place, opposite adjectives, shopping, clothes and accessories, adjectives and adverbs, time expressions, common regular verb collocations, adverbs of degree.
- Language – there is/there are, articles a/an, the, can/can’t/could/couldn’t, present continuous, present continuous and present simple, was and were, past simple regular verbs.
- Skills development- pronoun referencing in reading, asking for and giving directions, imperatives, understanding similar vowel sounds in listening, speaking in a shop, writing a product over view, understanding present simple and past simple verbs n listening, showing interest as a listener in speaking, write a tweet or text messages.

Elementary Level 3 (Units7-9)
Duration 4 weeks 24 hr of live online sessions 2hrs Guided self-study 2 one-to-one tutorials
- Topics – Health and fitness, Travel and transport, Cooking and eating
- Vocabulary – a healthy lifestyle, sports and fitness, easily confused words, tasking about holidays, transport, expressions with get, take and have, food and drink, in the kitchen, say numbers.
- Language –past simple irregular verbs, past simple negative, past simple questions, should/shouldn’t/have to/don’t have to, countable and uncountable nouns, quantifiers.
- Skills development- time sequencers in reading, expressing opinions, agreeing and disagreeing in speaking, post a website comment, listening to present simple and past simple questions, speaking at a train station, write an email about a perfect holiday, listening and understanding numbers, writing to ask about and recommend a place, speak in a restaurant.

Elementary Level 4 (Units 10-12)

- Topics – The world around us, Working together, Culture and arts
- Vocabulary – the weather, nature and geography, adjectives + noun collocations, verb + noun collocations, technology, making adjectives stronger, verb + noun phrases, films, past participles.
- Language – comparatives, superlatives, going to, infinitives of purpose, present perfect simple, present perfect and past simple.
- Skills development- understanding comparison, speaking about reasons and preferences, writing about describing places, finding the meaning of unknown words, writing a notice, offering to do something, listening to past simple and present perfect verb forms, speaking on the phone, writing a review.
